BC Cancer Agency: A Provincial Strategy for Digital Mammography
Mammography is the last diagnostic imaging modality to become digital and with this technological change comes a wide range of system implications and challenges. INSITE has worked with the Screening Mammography Program of BC to develop a Provincial Strategy that meets this challenge and builds a sustainable solution to achieve the strategic goals of the screening program.
eHealth's Provincial Diagnostic Imaging Project for BC
September 2005 to March 2009BC is integrating the DI results from source system PACS to a provincial DI repository within the IHE XDSi framework. The project is integral to the provinces electronic health record project. Upon completion of the project all digital DI results will be available to authorized users, for the purposes of continuity of patient care, from any where in BC to any where in BC. INSITE Consultancy is engaged to manage the entire project.
Irreversible Compression in Diagnostic Imaging Adopted by Canada
Through a collaborative effort between INSITE Consultancy, Canada Health Infoway, Fraser Health and Sunny Brook Hospital the Canadian Association of Radiologists has endorsed lossy compression as a standard of practice. Canada is leading the rest of the world in this area which will have a significant impact on the transmission speed of large image files across networks. Fraser Health PACS
October 2003 to December 2005
The largest PACS project in North America at the time of inception; this project included 12 acute hospital sites serving a population of 1.4m on a single data center. All sites where successfully implemented to achieve the vision of Any Image Anywhere Anytime. INSITE services included project management, strategic and tactical Change management, Communications and leadership to a number of Canada Health Infoway projects such as Lossy Compression, IHE and Knowledge Management.

Paul Brownrigg presents a paper on lossy compression to the Society of Computer
Applications in Radiology (now SiiM)in Florida, June 2005. Topics covered were the
a legal risk assessment of using lossy compression in medical imaging
and the application of Change Management in a multi-site PACS project.
